Day 11: Grandparents

I don’t know if this technically fits into the theme for my challenge, but I couldn’t imagine writing about anything other than the blessed day that I had! Today was Grandparents’ Day at my daughter’s school. Five of her six grandparents were able to attend, and this made my heart so full! I had attempted to prepare the grandparents by telling them that this was the best Grandparents’ Day event that there ever was, but they didn’t truly comprehend it until they experienced it for themselves! From the theme, to the decorations, the food, gifts, and entertainment–it was all so unbelievably fantastic! To see the interaction between the grandparents and their grandchildren was astounding! The love was radiating all around!

Now, parents are not actually invited to attend on this day due to the overwhelming number of grandparents in attendance (about 900-1,000). However, if parents sign up to serve on a committee, attend the required number of meetings, and commit to volunteering their time and service, then they are able to attend. Initially, since my husband and I both work, we didn’t think that this would be feasible for us to do, and we had sadly concluded that we would be unable to experience this day with our daughter and our parents. However, the more we thought about it and talked about it, the closer we came to the realization that this was something that we needed to do. We knew that if we didn’t make the time to do this, then we would most certainly regret it! So, we made the commitment, and we made it happen! And I haven’t stopped thanking God yet for leading me to make that decision! I am going to bed with a very happy heart tonight!

So, think about your priorities! What is your heart telling you that you really “need” to do? It’s simple. Make it happen!
