Day 23: Be Grateful and Pray for Macy!

Today was not the best of days around our household. I took the day off from work today to go on a field trip with my daughter and her pre-k class. After being stuck in traffic for an hour, I finally made it, barely on time. Then, I received a call from my son’s daycare. A little girl had fallen on him and had hurt his arm. They said they would monitor him and keep us posted. Well, a few hours later, my sweet hubby was sitting in the hospital with him getting x-rays. Yep! He had a broken arm! A few days shy of 18 months old, and my poor baby is in a full-arm cast–fingers to armpit! I am so sad! It’s really awful to see him toting that heavy thing around. It hasn’t stopped him, though! He was a champ getting it put on! The nurses were speechless at how well he handled it..not a single tear! And, since we have been home, he has been playing his heart out! I am still sad, though!

I am sad, but I am grateful! I am grateful the break wasn’t worse. I am grateful that he has only had to have one dose of Motrin today to control the pain. I am grateful that he didn’t have to undergo surgery to repair his broken arm. But mostly, I am grateful that he is home with me tonight. I was able to hold him and rock him until he was sound asleep in my arms. I am grateful that he is sleeping peacefully in his own crib instead of a hospital bed undergoing unimaginably intense chemotherapy like our sweet friend Macy!

So, I want to thank everyone for the prayers and well-wishes today for my sweet boy! He is ok, and I am forever grateful for that. Tonight, I ask you to think of Macy. Pray for her. Pray for healing for her. Pray for her comfort. Pray for her parents. Pray for her team of doctors that they may find the right treatment to beat the monster that is trying to take over her tiny little body. She is a fighter, and she will beat this!

So, tonight, be grateful. Simply grateful!
