19. Starting Again

This past summer, I started on a mission to get healthier and lose the rest of my pregnancy weight (from a year prior) plus some. I threw out all the processed foods and hit the pavement. Through eating cleaner and running three times a week, I lost 27 pounds in about 3 months. I’ve since plateaued (after returning to work from summer break), and I had gained back about 4.5 pounds.

This week, however, I have gotten back on track! I’ve started tracking my calories again, eating much healthier, and even snuck in a little exercise here and there. I’m happy to say that I’ve lost 4 of the regained pounds! My next goal is to lose another 4 pounds so that I can officially be back at my college weight!

So, today, I am thankful for the chance to start over. For fresh starts. For not giving up. For coming to bed instead of eating something else like I really wanted to do. For an impromptu exercise session with my little girl before she went to bed. For taking control of my health.

Day 18: Push Yourself

Last weekend, I did something I never in my wildest dreams thought I would (or could) do! I completed the Warrior Dash in Louisiana. It was the hardest physical thing I have ever done, but it was also one of the best times I’ve had in my life! I “raced” with my husband, my cousin, and my friend of 17 years! We trudged through mud pits, crossed cargo nets, climbed walls (and even fell down some), crawled under barbed wire, jumped over fire, swam through an ice-cold pond, and more! It was amazing, to say the least!

If you’d have asked me a year and a half ago if I were interested in signing up for said Warrior Dash, I would have laughed in your face! However, in that time, I have started eating much healthier and exercising (and even running), I lost about 50 pounds! I’m still not where I’d like to ultimately be (physically), but I am a work in progress! I’ve come a long way!

The Warrior Dash was hard!! But, I did it! I had to push myself to the limits and beyond, but I did it! I came out bruised and scraped and unbelievably sore, but I did it! Find something that you don’t think you could ever do, and do it! Push yourself! The feeling you will get is indescribable!
